Wonder Trail

Wonder Trail is a 1.6 mile connector from the Ashland Loop Road to Hitt Road. But it can be part of a 6 mile out and back too!

Driving

– This 10 minute drive start through Lithia Park on Winburn Way.  You will hit Grantie Street so turn left to continue following Ashland Creek uphill.  The road becomes gravel and you’re almost there.  The road intersects with a sweeping left turn that goes around the swimming hole.  Don’t take that! Continue straight and park to your left.

Parking

– Don’t park with all those swimming hole people! Drive just 100 yards further and park just past where the creek runs under the road.

The Adventure

– Ride or hike or run up from your car along the gravel road past the yellow pipe gate just above the Fairy Ponds. It’s 1.7 miles they say. It’s not bad. I mean, it’s a regular gravel road for cars – that you can’t drive on – but it’s shaded and woodsy. Then, there’s a well signed entrance to Wonder Trail. Another 1.6 miles up that winding, single track trail with your bike or your running shoes and you hit the Fell On Knee trail. It is a pretty reasonable uphill. I’m not a strong mountain biker, but it seems like an occasionally steep uphill mountain bike. But hiking and running it’s nice.
When you reach the top… Turn around or keep going depending upon what kind of maniac you are.
