Beekman Loop

Beekman Loop is a great, under 3 mile, Jacksonville neighborhood trail. Partially in the forested hillside above town.

Driving

– A 20 minute drive from Ashland Plaza. Get to Interstate 5 and head towards Medford. Good news, you’re not going all the way to Medford, you’re getting off at Phoenix – turn left, then right, back onto Siskiyou Blvd/99 north. Then left on South Stage Road toward Jacksonville. That heads into the countryside – you’ll take a quick jog right, then left, on Griffin Creek Road – then towards Jacksonville again. Past some wineries and just on the outskirts of Jacksonville, you will turn left into the yellow Beekman House parking lot.

Parking

– The lot has decent parking, but if that historic Beekman House is ever open, maybe it will be crowded? Maybe? Not really sure what that house is all about.

The Adventure

-The Beekman Canyon Loop where you start is a great 1 mile nature hike for grannies and babies. But to add some interest to your life, at the top of the park, head across the gravel driveway into the woods. A great trail winds above the homes and lets out on 3rd street.
Now, do some neighborhood street hiking up to Graham Street and over to Applegate. There, the trail starts again and heads into the woods. This time you end at Beebe Woods.

You really have to check the map on this one. Words will not suffice.

At Beebe Woods you walk down a driveway, turn left into another driveway, and right, back onto the trail. The signs are not big on purpose.
You are now into the Chinese Diggings area of the Jacksonville Woodlands Trails. This can lead into the bigger trail system above the Britt Festival, or, you can head back into town on South Oregon Street. Again – really helpful to look at the map. When you hit California (the Main street is called California for some dumb reason) turn right and head 6 blocks to your car.
