Green Springs Loop/Little Hyatt Lake

Green Springs Loop & Little Hyatt Lake 2 to 8 mile loop trail mostly along the Pacific Crest Trail, ending at Little Hyatt Lake, with lots of parking and trail options.

Driving

–This 30 minute drive starts south through town on Main Street/Siskiyou towards the University. Turn left on Ashland Street towards Interstate 5. Don’t get on the Interstate! Go over it! The road sweeps to the right and you will continue towards, and past, Emigrant Lake. This becomes Green Springs Highway and heads uphill into the mountains. 15 minutes of winding road later you will see Soda Mountain Road on your right and Little Hyatt Lake road is on your left. Turn left and park right there or… continue on another mile, turning left at the first sign to get to the Green Springs trail head.

Parking

– The first area just off GreenSprings Hwy has room for dozens of cars. Further on, at GreenSprings parking area there is room for 10 cars. Be aware that the the trail is actually another 50 yards up the road. And… you can just continue driving 3 miles from the Highway to get to Hyatt Lake and park in a turnout along the lake.

The Trail

– If you start at Green Springs Highway, hike the PCT to Little Hyatt Lake and come back along the road. That’s a great 7 miles. Or if you park at the Green Springs Mountain Loop, Hike the loop for 2 miles. Or… make it a 5 mile loop and go up to Little Hyatt. Little Hyatt can get mucky if it is low, but… it can be spectacular.
