Horn Gap Trail
The Horn Gap Trail is a 2 mile-ish downhill mountain bike trail miles above Lithia Park that you can also hike, or ride up…worth the trip!
Driving
– A 5-minute drive from Ashland Plaza heads up Winburn Way along Lithia Park. That quickly joins Granite Street and continues along Lithia Park. When the road becomes gravel, get ready for adventure!… and the swimming hole on your left. Continue straight past the swimming hole and park to your left. End of adventure.
Parking
– There are dozens of spots in the dirt above the swimming hole, and below the fairy ponds.
The Trail
-From the Fairy Ponds start biking up the fireroad. You can call it Ashland Loop or Lithia Loop, but take it. Beyond the yellow pipe gate. The whole thing is 8-9 miles uphill. Pass Horn Gap Road on you left at mil 3 or 4. Pass Hitt Road (FS 300) on your right at mil 5 ish. Pass the road to Moai (FS200) on your right mile 6 or 7. There you will see the Horn Gap 2 miles sign so… finish your uphill with that final 2 miles.
Now, downhill to your left at the slag pile. It’s less than 2 miles of fantastic downhill. Smooth and flowy. Now, a couple miles along Horn Gap Road back to Ashland Loop and you are 4 miles from the Swimming Hole.
You can reverse this – take it uphill – and get to No Candies as well. If you are a Hobbit, you can also just hike it on your way to Hobbiton.
